Rights Based HIV Prevention and Mitigation for Kenyan Prisons

Implemented in 2010 to 2014, with support from DFID.

The purpose of the project was to reduce HIV/AIDS incidences within prisoners and for those who are living with
HIV/AIDS and improve access to quality care, support, services and improved conditions while and mitigating the
socio-economic impact of HIV and AIDS in line with Kenya National HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan.

The project was implemented in 28 prison facilities in 8 counties targeting prisoners, prison staff and the prison community.

The project contributed to a reduction of the spread of HIV, improve the quality of life of those infected and affected within the Kenya prisons.
