In Kenya, society looks down on former prison inmates. But, RODI Kenya has been offering re-integration support to former prisoners since 1995. The reintegration support includes additional skills building, material support to engage in income generating activities as well as back stopping support.

Life in African prisons is hard – and those in Kenya are no exception. Hygiene standards are low, and violence among the inmates is common. The prison experience often stays with them, long after they’ve served their time. Some inmates are concerned about returning to their home villages after prison. The program provides them with the skills and strategies for successful re-integration.

Our report focuses on a female inmate who is participating in the program.
